Playing with place value Place value is one of the big ideas of mathematics. A solid foundation of place value supports regrouping, multiplying, addition and subtraction and supports understanding of decimals. Some students do not have this solid foundation and so struggle in upper primary and lower secondary. In this workshop we will explore a variety of place value activities, games, and resources to promote understanding and fluency. For secondary teachers this workshop will provide ideas to support students who need to pass OLNA.
