Bond Blocks Workshop

Narelle Rice

Narelle Rice’s background is teaching mathematics from primary through to lower secondary. She has worked in teacher education for AISWA and ECU. Narelle is passionate about teaching students who don’t fit the middle, supporting teachers and developing whole school systems. Narelle is currently enjoying time working with Dr Paul Swan.

  • Bond Blocks is a system of over 100 sequenced activities to comprehensively teach Year 1 to 3 addition and subtraction, including application to word problems. See below in Description for Introduction Video

Description

The Bond Blocks system has two targeted uses:

  • Mental Maths for Year 1 to 3 by linking part-part-whole understanding with basic fact fluency in addition and subtraction and associated word problems.
  • As a Wave 2 & 3 Intervention Support System for older students who count to add and subtract.

The Bond Block Test is used for placement and monitoring. Activities designed to support students with learning disabilities.

During this teacher workshop Narelle Rice, Bond Blocks developer, will share how to use the placement test, Bond Blocks activities and teacher support videos and materials. Each attendee will receive a set of Bond Blocks.
