Andrew Lorimer-Derham

Andrew helps people enjoy maths through engaging games, creative pedagogy and innovative activities. His passion is supporting teachers to build skilled & confident mathematicians through 'intentional fun'. Andrew equips teachers with hands-on resources & experiences to engage everyone, everywhere.

Cassandra Lowry

Cassandra currently works as a Numeracy Enhancement Leader for St Francis Primary School Tarneit. This role provides her with the opportunity work directly with staff and students to explore problems, plan and analyse data and share her love of all things maths.

Dion Alfonsi

Dion Alfonsi is a Secondary Mathematics Teacher at Shenton College. He has taught primarily in Years 9 – 12 and has been active in Gifted and Talented Education and Curriculum leadership.

Donna Buckley

Donna Buckley is on the Board of MAWA, and is the MTQ coordinator in WA. Internationally she has been a mathematical and cyber security education advisor for the Microsoft Educational Framework P - 12 as well as the Covid 19 Demystified course. A full time teacher she has embedded technologies in her mathematics classroom. In 2021 she successfully introduced a VET Cybersecurity course for Upper School students in her school, leading to her becoming a finalist in the 2020 Australian Women in Security Awards

Dr Tom Crawford

Dr Tom Crawford is an Early-Career Fellow at St Edmund Hall and the face of the award-winning Tom Rocks Maths outreach programme that aims to make maths fun, entertaining and accessible to all. Tom completed his undergraduate degree at Oxford before obtaining his PhD in applied maths at the University of Cambridge. When not talking all things maths on YouTube (including for the amazing Numberphile) or on the BBC (where he previously worked as a science journalist), he can be found getting new maths-themed tattoos or pretending he’s a rockstar.

Fiona Foley, MANSW Education Consultant with MANSW with a focus on improving student engagement and outcomes through building teacher capacity in knowledge of content, pedagogy and research-based innovative classroom procedures and strategies.

Jen Bowden & Helen Haralambous

Jen has worked at MAV for 14 years. She enjoys inspiring teachers, coaches, consultants and leaders to become more critical and creative educators and provide the best learning experiences for their students.

Jody Crothers

HOLA – Mathematics at Ridge View Secondary College, Jody is enjoying developing a whole school culture from the ground up. His current projects involve the TI-Rover and Tik Tok videos. He loves having fun and making Maths fun. He believes as professionals we need to share and support each other.

Kristen Tripet

Kristen Tripet is Program Manager of reSolve: Maths by Inquiry, the flagship mathematics education program at the Australian Academy of Science. Kristen has always had a keen interest in mathematics and enjoys sharing her passion with teachers and students.

Matt Sexton

Matt Sexton is Director of the Mathematics Teaching and Learning Centre (MTLC) and a Lecturer in Mathematics Education at ACU. His teaching and research areas include school mathematics leadership, teacher professional learning, effective pedagogies, and using concept cartoons as dialogue tools.

Michael Minas

Michael Minas is the director of Love Maths and his areas of interest include problem solving and student engagement. In 2018, he won the CHOOSEMATHS Teaching Excellence Award. Michael was the editor of Prime Number from 2019 to 2021 and is currently a contributing author for the Maths300 website.

Paul Swan

Dr Paul Swan is a Past President of MAWA, an honorary life member of MAWA, author, game maker and popular presenter. He has taught in primary, secondary and tertiary settings and now helps leaders improve the teaching of mathematics in their schools.

Rachel Theuissen

Rachel Theunissen has been teaching Mathematics for 27 years in Perth and regional WA, as well as online to students wanting to study the WA Curriculum all over the world. Her focus is teaching students to be problem solvers, she has been a volunteer for the Australian Mathematics Trust since 2012.

Sheila Griffin

Sheila has a primary school background working in the state school sector where she had a range of Numeracy and leadership roles. She has a passion for improving the teaching of mathematics by supporting schools and teachers through targeted professional learning.

Shyam Drury

Shyam Drury is a Professional Learning Consultant for Scitech and PhD candidate studying and sharing best practice in mathematics education. Previously a secondary mathematics teacher, he has worked for the last 5 years improving the expertise of primary school teachers in effective maths teaching.

Thomas Moore

Thomas is currently completing a PhD exploring how productive relationships are formed between maths teachers and their students. He also works with teachers and school leaders as a consultant to help both primary and secondary schools implement an inclusive and engaging curriculum for all.

Tierney Kennedy

Tierney is a mathematics consultant working with schools throughout WA to improve maths results.
